The "Rest Home Sleep Test" utilizes the Rest O2 Max Wrist Monitor, powered by the Viatom Checkme™ O2 Wrist Oxygen Monitor. This hardware is a Health Canada approved device. The software platform and Celeste+ mobile application are powered by EnsoData, a solution approved by Health Canada for the purpose of pre-screening sleep breathing disorders.

2. Medical Services & Prescription Disclaimer

Rest is a sleep reporting service, not a medical clinic.

  • No Prescriptions: We do not issue signed prescriptions for CPAP therapy, oral appliances, or other medical treatments.

  • Diagnostic Aid Only: All reports, including the "Doctor Interpretation," are intended solely to assist your personal healthcare provider in reaching a diagnosis.

  • Nature of Interpretation: The doctor interpretation is asynchronous and based strictly on the data and questionnaire you submit. It does not constitute medical advice, a physical exam, or a formal patient-doctor relationship.

  • Emergency Warning: This device is a recorder only. It does not detect medical emergencies in real-time. If you experience severe symptoms or chest pain, call 911 immediately.

3. Patient Eligibility & Exclusions

  • Adult Use Only: This test is indicated for adults (18+) only. Sound recording is explicitly contraindicated for children.

  • Medical Exclusions: Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT) is not suitable for everyone. This test may not be appropriate for individuals with significant heart or lung disease, neuromuscular conditions, suspected central sleep apnea, or those who are oxygen-dependent.

  • Consultation Recommended: If you have underlying medical conditions, please consult your healthcare provider before purchasing.

  • Not a PSG Replacement: This is not a substitute for in-lab polysomnography (PSG) when neurological tracking (EEG) or complex sleep staging is required.

4. Results & Testing Limitations

  • No Guarantee of Diagnosis: Rest does not guarantee a definitive diagnosis or specific clinical outcome.

  • Inconclusive Results: Results may be inconclusive, unusable, or failed due to user error or physiological factors. In such cases, a repeat test or an in-lab PSG may be required.

  • Limitation of Liability: Rest is not responsible for medical decisions made by the user or third parties based on these results. The user assumes all responsibility for how the information is acted upon.

5. Technical Requirements & User Responsibility

To successfully complete the test, you must provide a compatible smartphone.

  • Operating System: Android 12+ or iOS 15.5+.

  • Storage & Power: Minimum 350 MB free storage. The Viatom device must be charged to at least 60%. We strongly recommend keeping your phone plugged into power overnight.

  • Connectivity: Requires an active Bluetooth connection within 15 feet of the bed. Rest is not responsible for failed tests due to hardware incompatibility or connectivity drops.

6. Privacy & Audio Recording

The Celeste+ app may utilize your phone's microphone to detect snoring and breathing interruptions.

  • Audio Privacy: Actual recordings of voices or conversations are not accessible to staff. Only processed signals (breathing events/snoring intensity) are analyzed.

  • Data Security: Sleep data is transmitted securely and shared only with the patient and the interpreting physician.

7. Insurance, Coverage, & Refunds

  • No Provincial Coverage: This service is not covered by provincial plans (e.g., MSP, OHIP, AHCIP).

  • Private Insurance: HSAT is often eligible for reimbursement. Please verify coverage with your provider prior to purchase.

  • Refunds & Failures: All issues regarding refunds, retesting, or device replacements are governed by our [Refund Policy].

8. Independence & Non-Affiliation

Rest.ca is a private commercial entity and operates independently of provincial authorities. We are not affiliated with, licensed by, or endorsed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of any province (e.g., CPSBC, CPSO) or any provincial Ministry of Health.

9. Explicit Consent

By purchasing or using the Rest Home Sleep Test, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms, exclusions, and disclaimers outlined above.
